WILLEMSTAD: March 14, 2017 – Recently the Curaçao team participated in the 36th edition of the tourism showcase ANATO held annually in Colombia. This event serves as a platform to expose all the island has to offer to wholesalers and travel agencies interested in doing business with Curaçao. The Curaçao team had 3 days to engage visitors. Curaçao had an outstanding participation; the team consisting of Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), tour operators, hotel representatives and CHATA, promoted the island’s tourist amenities and services. Curaçao also hosted a Cocktail Happy Hour where everybody could enjoy a moment to network and discuss new ideas and business opportunities. The Colombian media was also invited to cover and give exposure to the event.
In terms of dates and important events, Curaçao used the opportunity to speak about Willemstad, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and announced that we will be organizing various events throughout the year in commemoration of this historic moment. The team also highlighted the Knip, which was recognized as the eighth most beautiful beach in the world, praised thus by tourists and travelers worldwide.
On closing day, ANATO registered 34 thousand people who visited the event; this is a 15% increase in visitors compared to last year. With this, it’s clear that the event was an excellent opportunity for the island to showcase itself and the private sector to engage in and close new business opportunities.
