WILLEMSTAD- January 25, 2019 – As in previous years, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and a number of private-sector partners participated in the Vakantiebeurs 2019 —the largest Tourism and Leisure fair aimed at the Dutch traveler—which took place from January 9 to 13 at the Jaarbeurs exhibition and convention center in Utrecht, the Netherlands. This year, over 104,000 visited the fair, making it the perfect platform to once again promote the island as the number one Caribbean tourist destination. Next year in 2020, the Vakantiebeurs will be celebrating its 50th edition.
Surveys show that 64 percent of visitors to the Vakantiebeurs go hoping to gather as much information as possible to get ready for their next vacation, while 63 percent are curious to discover new destinations. This offers a unique opportunity to showcase Curaçao as the number one Caribbean destination. Each year, the CTB organizes a different event especially to attract larger numbers of visitors to the Curaçao stand. This year, fair visitors could snap a picture at the CTB stand, against one of the backgrounds that are part of Curaçao’s new branding campaign: “Feel it For Yourself.” Some chose to pose dancing in a carnival group, while others opted for a backdrop that would show them standing on the Emma Bridge, at one of Curaçao’s beaches or an underwater scene. Each received their picture to take home right away after registering their e-mail address. The photo booth proved quite popular, attracting about 800 additional visitors to the Curaçao stand. On the first day of the fair, the CTB also organized a cocktail event for its partners, to celebrate the start of the new year.
