WILLEMSTAD – July 4, 2019 – The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) recently offered two courses aimed at the tourism sector—a Customer Service and a Tourism Safety & Security course. During a pleasant ceremony at Marie Pampoen Recreation Area, 164 participants received their certificates after successfully completing one of the above-mentioned courses. The ceremony included speeches by the Minister in charge of Economic Development Mr. Kenneth Gijsbertha, CTB’s CEO Mr. Paul Pennicook and Product Development Manager Mr. Ritzel Godfried.
The Customer Service course, designed by Teamwork Curaçao, consisted of the following modules: At your Service!, Effective Communication, Handling Challenging Situations, and Going the Extra Mile. The participants included representatives of the Curaçao Police Force, Immigration Department, Curaçao Ports Authority, Airport Customs and Curaçao Airport Partners. 97 participants successfully completed the course.
The Tourism Safety & Security course was offered to those who interact on a daily basis with tourists. For the participants, this was a great opportunity to further develop their skills and learn how to handle certain safety and security matters. Dr. Peter Tarlow, world-renowed expert in tourism security, delivered the course. Dr. Tarlow has worked with the CTB in the past. This year, 67 participants completed the course. The participants included representatives of the Avila Beach Hotel, Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino, Sunscape Curaçao Resort Spa & Casino, Papagayo Curaçao, Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Curaçao, the Curaçao Ports Authority, the Curaçao Victim Support Foundation, the Curaçao Ambulance Service, the Curaçao Police Force, Budget Rent-a-Car Curaçao, Hertz Car Rental, Sinusta Taxi Curaçao, Thirty Steps Association, the Consulates of the U.S. and Suriname, CHATA and the CTB.
