February Visitor Arrivals 2020
The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) is reporting an increase of 7% in stayover visitor arrivals for February 2020. There were 44,198 visitors in February 2020 compared 41,148 in February 2019, an increase of 3,050 visitors.
Our main producing country, The Netherlands, recorded 3% more stayover visitors in February. In total 17,796 stayover visitors were welcomed from Holland. Europe as a whole closed the month of February with a flat performance recording 21,863 stayover visitors.
We welcomed 12,699 visitors from the North American region, an increase of 17%. Canada recorded 4% growth, 3,921 visitors, while the United States of America recorded 23% in growth in stayover arrivals, 8,778 visitors. Out of the South American region, the performance remained flat with a total 5,462 stayover arrivals. The main producing country out of this region, Colombia, produced 2,664 visitors a 66% increase over February 2019.
The Caribbean region also performed well recording 41% growth in February. From Aruba, a 39% increase is recorded, welcoming 1,026 stayover visitors. We acknowledge this growth as a direct effect of the Carnival season.
Overall, visitor nights grew by 5% in February 2020. In total 393 thousand visitor nights are registered. Out of Europe, tourists spent 238 thousand nights in Curaçao. North and South American visitors spent respectively 95 and 39 thousand visitor nights in February. Visitors from the Caribbean region spent 17 thousand nights in Curaçao.

The February 2020 figures show the same amount of vessels as in February 2019, 35 in total for each month. The amount of passenger arrivals was higher as a result of among others the arrival of vessels with a higher capacity overall with an average passenger arrival per call of 2,624 in February 2020 versus 2,338 in the same month in 2019. In the month of February 2020, we welcomed 91,873 cruise passengers on Curaçao, which is 10,034 (12%) passengers more than the same month in 2019.
