June 4, 2024

WILLEMSTAD- June 4, 2024 – As part of the National Tourism Conference that the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) will organize on the upcoming World Tourism Day, September 27th, the first pre-conference session on the topic ‘Discovery’ took place. The goal of the session was to jointly address the challenges and uncover and celebrate our strengths as a tourist destination. The opening of the session included speeches by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, and the Counterpart Director of CTB, Mr. Muryad de Bruin.

The first pre-conference session had the participation of 67 individuals who are directly and indirectly involved with the tourism industry. The participants were divided into small groups where each group explored the challenges, as well as our successes, by recognizing our collective strengths and used these to envision an optimistic future for the tourism industry & beyond.

In the upcoming months, leading up to the conference, four more pre-sessions will be held. All will focus on topics relevant to the central theme of the conference, which is sustainable growth. The topics addressed during the following pre-conference sessions are 1) Diversity, 2) Authenticity, 3) Engagement and 4) Competitiveness. From all the pre-conference sessions, pre-resolutions will emerge, which will be discussed at the conference in September to reach final resolutions. These final resolutions will then be translated into concrete actions for the benefit of the Curaçao community and Curaçao as a tourist destination.
