WILLEMSTAD – September 30, 2024 – Recently, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) introduced the Curaçao Experience, an innovative experience center located at the Nuestro Bogotá shopping mall in Colombia. This location combines the latest technology with information about Curaçao’s tourism product, offering visitors the opportunity to explore our destination using modern technological tools such as the metaverse, online games, and interactive screens. This concept is the first of its kind in Colombia and all Latin America. Additionally, the center will feature booking stations, where travel agents and Curaçao partners will be available to assist visitors who wish to book their trip to Curaçao on the spot. The opening of the center was conducted by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Charles Cooper.
In line with Curaçao’s slogan ‘Feel it for yourself’, visitors to the center can explore our island’s rich diversity, culture, architecture, variety of events, and even experience a virtual journey through our underwater world. The center features seven stations offering different experiences tailored to children, adults, couples, and families. Some key technologies include VR glasses, which allow users to immerse themselves in a digital environment, exploring different places and feeling as though they are physically present. The center will also use “Metaverse” technology, where visitors can use virtual glasses to explore the island through Curaçao’s own virtual world. Additionally, the center will include various projections on the ceiling, floor and walls of the location, illustrating colorful images and beautiful videos of our island. Moreover, the center will feature a station where visitors can select a travel package that best suits their preferences and budget and make their reservation immediately.
The center’s inauguration comes at a time of great optimism, with projections indicating that 2024 will close with over 42,000 stayover visitors from Colombia. The CTB continues to innovate with the goal of attracting more visitors to our island.
