WILLEMSTAD – October 1, 2024 – Today, October 1, 2024, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) proudly marks 35 years of service to the island. For over three and a half decades, we have dedicated ourselves to promoting Curaçao as a premier tourist destination for both leisure and business travelers. Our efforts highlight the island’s vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, inviting beaches and warm hospitality while ensuring sustainable growth and long-term benefits for the community. Over the years, we have advanced various projects focused on implementing marketing, promotional, and awareness campaigns, as well as supporting and initiating efforts to improve the tourist experience. Also collect and report tourism data and advise the government on tourism policies. We are immensely proud of our accomplishments and look forward to achieving even more in collaboration with our public and private sector partners, international allies, and local community.
Main objectives for 2024
As we move through 2024, the year is shaping up to be another record-breaking one, with one of our key objectives being to reach 670,000 stayover visitors by year-end. By September, we had already surpassed half a million stayover visitors, an achievement we reached in November of last year. Our top five source markets, the Netherlands, the United States, Colombia, Brazil, and Canada, continue to perform exceptionally well. This remarkable growth highlights the appeal of our island and the dedication of everyone in our tourism industry. Another important objective is to collaborate with our industry partners (public and private) to create a memorable experience throughout the visitor’s journey by enhancing the tourism product, improving customer service, contribute to strengthening human capital island-wide, and fostering meaningful connections between our local community and visitors.
National decree focused on sustainable tourism development
Recently, in celebration of World Tourism Day, we partnered with the Ministry of Economic Development and Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association to organize the National Tourism Conference, where a national decree focused on sustainable tourism development was signed. This decree outlines the establishment of a new implementation structure aimed at accelerating the execution of various actions aligned with the Strategic Tourism Destination Development Plan 2022 – 2026 (STDDP). Managing the sustainable growth of the tourism industry, together with our partners, and executing the STDDP 2022 – 2026 remain top priorities for the CTB.
The CTB wishes to thank the government, all tourism industry partners, and the community for their ongoing support throughout the years. We look forward to many more years of inspiring travelers to visit Curaçao and experience our ‘dushi’ island for themselves.
