…Part of the Holland America Line family…
WILLEMSTAD– December 11, 2016 – Last Saturday, December 10, the cruise ship MSKoningsdam made her very first call to Curaçao—reason for a brief ceremony on board, during which the captain and crew were given a warm welcome by the Minister of Economic Development Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath on behalf of the Government of Curaçao, accompanied by representatives of the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) and the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB).
The MS Koningsdam, with 2,650 passengerscapacity,is part of the Holland America Line family of cruise ships. She made her maiden voyage in April of this year, being therefore a brand new and modern vessel. During the lovely gathering, the Minister of Economic Development Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath warmly welcomed Captain Bowland, handing him a plaque commemorating his ship’s first visit to Curaçao. Cruise tourism plays a key role in the island’s overall tourism industry, as cruise passengers may choose to return to the island for a longer stay. For the first quarter of 2017 a preliminary increase of 6% cruise arrivals is expected compared to last year.
Bon Biní (welcome), MS Koningsdam!
