Curaçao welcomed 58,951 stayover visitors in July 2024

WILLEMSTAD – August 15, 2024 – The Curaçao Tourist Board is excited to report another impressive double-digit growth in stayover arrivals. The island experienced a solid 16% rise in arrivals compared to July of the previous year. A total of 58,951 stayover visitors were greeted in the summer month of 2024.

The strong demand for Curaçao as a vacation destination in July led to another month where two markets set record-breaking arrival numbers. Both the Dutch and Brazilian markets showed outstanding performance in July.

The Netherlands: 24,569 Dutch visitors are registered in July, marking a 27% increase compared to the 19,377 stayover arrivals in July 2023. This makes July 2024 a record-breaking month, with 24,569 Dutch visitors in total. It is the second time Curaçao welcomed over 24,000 Dutch visitors; the first time was in December 2021 when a total of 24,064 Dutch visitors were welcomed. Most of the Dutch visitors opted for non-resorts accommodation (57%), while the remaining 43% stayed at a resort during their stay. The Dutch stayed for an average of 13.7 nights in July.

United States of America: USA continues to be a strong market, recording 10% increase from 12,457 in July 2023, totaling 13,757 arrivals in July 2024.  The accommodation preferences for the US market are the broad offering of resort hotels (70%), while the remaining 30% opted for other lodging options available on the island. On average US visitors stayed 6.2 nights in Curaçao.

Brazil:  Visitors from Brazil surged by 42% with 4,196 arrivals in July 2024 compared to 2,956 in July 2023. Setting the record for Brazil’s first month recording over 4,000 stayover arrivals. On average, Brazilian visitors spent 7.4 nights in July. In terms of accommodation choices, 70% of Brazilian visitors opted for resort hotels.

Year to date highlights of 2024
The first seven months of 2024 have shown remarkable performance, with 405,724 stayover arrivals, representing a 25% growth compared to the same period last year. All markets of focus are showing great arrival numbers in the first seven months. So far Curaçao welcomed 144,748 Dutch visitors, out of the USA 105,375 visitors are registered. Colombia, Brazil, and Canada registered 26,955, 25,082 and 22,297 respectively. Altogether these 5 markets represent 80% of all the stayover tourists in the first seven months.
