National Tourism Conference 2024 Concludes with the Signing of a National Decree Focused on Sustainable Tourism Development
On September 27, the National Tourism Conference took place, focusing on the sustainable growth of the tourism industry. The conference was the culmination of five pre-conferences held during the first half of the year. The main objectives of the conference were to commemorate World Tourism Day by highlighting the importance of the tourism industry for Curaçao, raise awareness, and promote participation among stakeholders on the central theme of the conference. The conference also aimed to propose actionable resolutions for managing tourism growth and improving the effectiveness of sustainable development plans through the establishment of a new implementation structure.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), and the Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA), had more than 300 participants. The opening of the conference was led by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Charles Cooper, who emphasized the importance of the tourism industry for Curaçao, the growth Curaçao is experiencing, and the role of each actor in the process.
